Cooperative Principles
The power of human connections...
Early in 1998, Coweta-Fayette EMC announced that it had become a Touchstone Energy™ partner. Touchstone Energy is a nationwide alliance of customer-owned electric utility companies. There is strength in such cooperation: it’s called “the power of human connections.”
The alliance enables the member-owners of every cooperative to compete with bigger, investor-owned (or for-profit) electric utility companies. The alliance is important for member/owners not only because it helps provide them with state-of-the-art power technology, but because it also continues the cooperative tradition of meeting high standards and building even stronger ties to the community.

Touchstone is growing beyond the initial list of partners, as more customer-owned utilities - such as the Coweta-Fayette EMC - anticipate and plan for changes taking place in the industry. The whole idea of Touchstone Energy is to prepare for the future by sharing innovative ideas and technology, and by working together to provide customer/owners with reliable power at the most reasonable cost.
As a Touchstone Energy Partner, Coweta-Fayette EMC upholds the highest industry standards in the nation. We know that there’s strength in numbers, and as just one of hundreds of EMCs who have affiliated to maintain and improve the highest levels of service and products, we also have clout on Capital Hill when it comes to legislation that affects our members. With deregulation of the electric utility industry already established in several states and some form of legislation in process for 24 others, it will take our combined resources to compete with private, for-profit utilities while keeping your costs as low as possible and reliability at optimum levels. We know that accountability is one of the most effective motivations in the corporate world, so this is just one more level of accountability that we gladly maintain…after you, of course!
