The minimum job qualifications for this position are:

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, English, Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related discipline, plus one year in a public affairs or communications post involving regular interaction with public officials, media and advocacy groups or equivalent. 

• Superior writing and editing skills. 

• Knowledge of the principles and methods of conducting corporate public relations program. 

• Proven ability to provide counsel and to develop media relations strategy as well as to evaluate those efforts and adapt programs and strategies accordingly. 

• Knowledge of, print production, video production and photography desired.

• Strong computer, planning, budgeting and negotiating skills.  Ability to develop timetables and manage them. 

• Ability and judgment to work independently under pressure, juggling multiple tasks and deadlines. 

• Must have a heightened awareness organizational and political sensitivity in order to function effectively in all types of customer settings, organizations and with colleagues at all staff levels. 

• Ability to build alliances with like-minded organizations. 

• Required to successfully pass Coweta-Fayette's physical exam and drug screens.
